About Texas K Energy

Texas K Energy is a Houston energy brokerage founded by Nisa Hunain. We help businesses and households buy electricity and natural gas in a deregulated market that was designed to give people choice and, somewhere along the way, became very good at making choice confusing.

The founder

Nisa Hunain has spent more than five years in Texas retail electricity, working accounts from single-meter storefronts to multi-site commercial portfolios. That work covered single-meter storefronts and multi-site commercial portfolios, which is a useful range: it is the difference between knowing what a matrix rate is and knowing when an account is too interesting to be priced off one.

Texas K Energy exists because that experience kept running into the same thing — businesses paying holdover rates for years, households on plans engineered for a usage level they never reach, and nobody in the transaction whose job was to say so plainly. The name on the door is a person, and the phone number reaches her.

What makes us different, concretely

• Houston, not statewide. One metro and one utility. We know which addresses on the northern edge of the metro cannot switch at all, because they are in Entergy Texas territory — a fact that costs statewide operations nothing to get wrong and costs the customer their time.
• Business and home. Most brokers work commercial accounts only. If you own a Houston business, the same person handles your building and your house. They are different markets and we treat them differently, but it is one phone call.
• The owner takes the calls. No call centre, no lead handoff, no rotating account manager who has not read your file.
• We publish how we are paid. A per-kWh fee inside the supply contract, remitted by the provider you choose, with the conflict of interest named rather than hidden behind the word "free." The full explanation.

What we will not do

We publish no supply rates, anywhere. Rates move daily and depend on your usage, your location, your credit and the day you sign, so any figure on this website would be one we could not honour — and a number given in answer to your question about your business reads as a quote whatever hedging surrounds it.

We also will not tell you your bill can be cut by some percentage. A meaningful share of every Houston bill is regulated CenterPoint delivery charges and statutory taxes, and no broker on earth can move those. We will tell you what proportion of your bill is actually in play before anyone talks about savings.

And we will tell you to stay put when staying put is right. It happens regularly, it earns us nothing, and it is the reason people call back.

Texas K Energy is the trading name of Khairunnisa LLC, a Texas limited liability company. We are a registered Texas electricity broker. We are not a retail electric provider and not a utility: we do not generate electricity, we do not deliver it, and we do not bill you for it. Licensed retail providers hold your supply contract and CenterPoint Energy delivers the power.
